How You Help Build the Church of Jesus
The Story
How does God build His church?
In Amos 9:11–15, we see God's promise to restore and build up His people—and in this message, we consider how Christians participate in that work by speaking about Christ and proclaiming God's Word.
You don't have to be an eloquent speaker or give a perfectly organized gospel presentation. God uses His Word to accomplish His purposes. As we speak about Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit can use those words to bring unbelievers to faith and add them as living stones to the spiritual house of Christ's church.
This message looks at the connection between Amos 9, the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19, 1 Peter 3:15, Isaiah 55:11, John 6:37–39 and 6:63, Ephesians 1:4, and Titus 3:5. God's people are called to speak of Christ, while God Himself gives life through His Spirit and His Word.
If you have ever felt intimidated about sharing your faith, evangelizing, answering questions about Christianity, or speaking about Jesus with unbelieving friends, neighbors, coworkers, or family members, this message is intended to encourage you: your words do not have to be powerful or eloquent. God's Word is powerful, and God uses it to accomplish His purposes.
