Jesus Is King—and That Is Good News | Amos 9.11–15
The Story
Why is it good news that Jesus is King?
Amos 9:11–15 promises the restoration of David's fallen kingdom, and that promise finds its fulfillment in Jesus, the Son of David and God's chosen King. In this sermon, we examine Amos in its original context and then see how Jesus fulfills its promise of a restored Davidic King.
Jesus is the Messiah—the Anointed One, the King God has given His people. Unlike the kings of the nations, Jesus is the faithful King who shepherds, protects, leads, and blesses His people. His kingship is not merely one part of the gospel; Jesus' announcement that the kingdom of God had come is itself the good news.
Learn how Amos 9:11–15 points to Jesus, how the Old Testament prepares us to understand Christ as King, and why having Jesus as your King is truly good news.
