Jesus Brings You Out of Exile | Amos 9.11–15

The Story

What does Amos 9:11–15 have to do with your salvation?

In this message, John Musgrave explains how God's promise to restore His exiled people points forward to Jesus Christ, the King who brings His people out of exile and into the presence of God.

Amos spoke to God's people in the 750s BC, promising that after Israel's exile, God would bring His people back to the Promised Land. But the promise reaches beyond Israel's physical restoration. In Christ, God brings His people out of spiritual exile, into His Church, into the presence of the Holy Spirit, and into the security of salvation.

This message also examines why understanding the Old Testament is essential for understanding the gospel. Jesus announced that the good news was the arrival of the kingdom of God. The Old Testament provides the background necessary to understand why the kingdom of God is such good news.

If you want to understand Amos, Biblical interpretation, the kingdom of God, salvation, the Church, and how Old Testament prophecy is fulfilled in Jesus Christ, this study will help you read Scripture in its Biblical context.
