Why a Christian Needs a Church to Thrive | Amos 2.9-12 Explained
The Story
In this sermon on Amos 2:9–12 titled “The Benefits Received by Being a Believing Member of the Church,” we explore why Christian discipleship was never meant to be lived in isolation.
In a cultural moment where many say “I love Jesus, but not the Church,” Scripture gives a very different verdict: belonging to Christ necessarily means belonging to His people.
Drawing from Amos, the New Testament, and the whole counsel of God, this message explains how God rescues believers from the kingdom of the world, leads them through the wilderness of this present life, and provides spiritual direction through His Word, His Spirit, and the example of mature believers within the Church.
This is a deeply biblical, Reformed, and evangelical reflection on why the visible Church is not optional, but a means of grace God uses to preserve, guide, and mature His people until they reach their heavenly home.
