The Litmus Test of How You Receive the Bible | Amos 7.9–17
The Story
Amos 7:9–17 reveals that how we respond to God’s Word is a spiritual litmus test of whether we truly receive God and His authority.
In this sermon, we examine Amaziah’s rejection of Amos, Israel’s refusal to hear God’s message, and what Scripture teaches about receiving God’s Word, worshiping Him, listening to faithful pastors and teachers, and living under the authority of His truth.
Ultimately, the passage points us to the contrast between Jeroboam II, a rebellious king who led Israel toward judgment and exile, and Jesus Christ, the faithful King who gives His people life, grace, salvation, and the blessing of dwelling with God.
This sermon from Amos 7:9–17 explores biblical preaching, hearing God’s Word, Christian worship, pastoral ministry, true faith, spiritual discernment, eternal life, and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
